WHO REALLY WANTS IT?
PASSION CAN’T BE FORCED
(Video above: Credit — Coach Bryan Bartley)
I heard Coach Bryan Bartley say something real:
If your son or daughter doesn’t have the passion — And you’re the one pushing them to every practice,
Dragging them out of bed,
Begging them to work out — Then it’s not really their journey.
It’s yours.
Read that again.
If they’re not the one knocking on your door saying,
“Come on, Coach Chris, let’s go ,”
or waking you up before the alarm saying,
“Hey, we got a game in 20 minutes — we gotta be early,”
then the drive isn’t theirs.
It’s yours.
And that matters more than you think.
REAL PASSION DOESN’T NEED TO BE PUSHED.
The truth is, this game — like Coach Bartley said — is a poor man’s game.
Basketball, soccer — you don’t need much to start:
A ball, a goal, a rim.
No fancy gear. No expensive equipment.
That’s why millions play it.
But that’s also why millions fade out.
Because when everyone can play, the difference is never the ball.
It’s the hunger.
If you don’t love this enough to get up when you’re tired,
If you can’t push yourself when nobody’s clapping,
If you fold when it gets tough — There’s always someone out there who won’t.
That’s the reality.
Anyone can touch a ball.
Very few stay with it when it pushes back.
SO ASK YOURSELF
Is this your journey?
Or theirs?
If they love it, they’ll show you.
You won’t have to force it.
You won’t have to drag them.
They’ll be dragging you.
And if they’re not?
Maybe the goal isn’t the goal you think it is.
Protect the standard.
Protect the passion.
And remember:
Hunger can’t be coached.
It’s got to come from them.
Let’s get to work.
